Miracles

I had my doctor's appointment on Monday, and what a day it turned out to be! I ended up being there for over 4 hours! There's been a lot of concern with this pregnancy, and after Monday, I realized that the Lord has truly blessed me and my child in ways I never even expected...so I had to share. (:

Miracle #1: My normal doctor was out sick, so the on-call doctor was filling in where needed. I weighed in and told the nurse that I was in a lot of pain and that I was having a lot of contractions regularly, and the baby wasn't moving very much anymore. That's scary because the bigger they get, the more they move! I was so worried that his umbilical cord was wrapped around him somewhere. The nurse freaked out, and got ahold of the doctor right away. He decided to put me on a machine for 30 minutes that monitors contractions, the baby's heart rate, and his movement...I have no idea what it was called, btw. So, low and behold, for the first time my entire pregnancy, my stinker of a baby decided he was going to move... A LOT! The doctor came back in and kinda looked at me like...uh, are ya stupid?? He said it was "textbook." I swore that the baby never moved that much, ever, and he said maybe I didn't notice it so much because I've got other kids at home and I'm too busy. Look...I KNOW when my baby moves. You can't really ignore that kind of thing, but whatever...I bit my tongue, thankful the baby was finally moving, and asked him what was next. (By the way, the baby hasn't stopped moving since Monday...I guess that's what I get for complaining. :)

Miracle #2: He checked to see if I was dilated at all (because I've been in bed for 2 weeks from lots of pain from carrying a transverse baby) and low and behold, AGAIN...not even close to being dilated. I about rolled off the table! Anybody who knows my history with my pregnancies, knows that I start dilating at 5 months and get put on bed rest by 7 months. I'm lucky if I make it full term. I thought for sure my pain was caused from that! Nope...just "horizontal 4th baby syndrome." I've been complaining the entire pregnancy about a transverse baby, and believe me...it's VERY painful to carry that way, but carrying him that way has kept me from dilating this entire time. In my opinion, so worth it! I would rather have a healthy baby and suffer momentary pain, any day. Blessing in disguise. ;)

Miracle #3: Then, the doctor decided to have me go to the sonogram specialist down the hall to check all my fluids and the baby's growth, and position and stuff. My regular doctor has been talking about doing a c-section with me because of the baby's position. Scary! So, $400 later...here's what I find out:
1. The baby is still a boy. (Yes, I asked! It was my one last hope of having a girl..leave me alone!)
2. The baby is completely healthy, fluids are perfect, no cord issues, and he's only measuring 6 pounds, which means I won't have a huge 10 pounder like my last one. He won't be more than 8 pounds! Having gestational diabetes, I thought for sure he would be huge...that's a completely unexpected blessing.
3. The baby was head down! I made him check it 3 times just to be sure...he thought I was crazy...but seriously, my little transverse baby of 8 months moved! He said that wasn't very common. My doctor was convinced it wouldn't happen. I started getting teary-eyed, just thankful for all the great news that had happened. It also helped that I got to see his little face for the first time (never got a good picture of him before because he was sideways and had his hands in his face at 4 months). He's so cute! Looks a lot like Luke. (: Jordan went out on a limb for me the Friday before my appointment and got me a maternity massage to help me relax (best thing in the world btw!) and my Mother-in-law called up a favor from an old friend of hers that is a certified Midwife and got some pointers about how to help move the baby. I tried a couple techniques Sunday night, and I KNOW that that baby moved that night. Not to mention the countless prayers and people fasting for this to happen...it truly was nothing short of a miracle!

I am SO looking forward to seeing my little miracle baby and enjoying his sweet presence in our home. I am so very thankful for the Lord's hand in my life and the blessings he has given to our family. Sometimes I don't feel deserving of them all, but I'm not one to complain about them either! I have exactly 3 weeks before my scheduled delivery date of October 2nd. I can't wait...and as Hailey would put it, "I'm so exciting!"

Jillian was side-ways too. My midwife called in the doctor to "make a plan" on what to do. He was going to put me in the hosptial, put me on drugs to keep me from conractions, and then try to externally move the baby (basically turn and push and squeeze my belly until the baby turns). Then I would have to be in the hospital until the baby was born. (I've been told...even by the doctor...that it stinkin' hurts!) Not something I wanted, but was willing to do for the safety of my baby.
Anyway...as we are in the office and he's explaining to me what he's going to do, he's gently making the motions to show me what he would do....AND....Jillian turned! Heavenly Father definitely sees the blessings we need and delivers! (no pun intended).
Hope everything continues to go well.

What did you think of the $400 ultrasound doc.? I got to see him too. I thought he was awesome, he let me watc our little one's face for several minutes, he just held the thingy there. And McKenna and I got to see him yawn a couple of times, which was awesome.

I'm so glad things are looking well for you. And hooray for the 6 lbs weight, I must say, I am a little jealous :)

Good luck in a couple weeks! Call us when you move, we want to help!
